The Ashokan Center: Lena Jonsson Trio Concert

SWEDEN’S LENA JONSSON TRIO COMING TO ASHOKAN CENTER Band known for Swedish folk music to perform in the Catskills March 15 The Swedish Grammy (Grammis)-winning Lena Jonsson Trio will perform at the Ashokan Center at 7 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024.

Lena Jonsson is an innovative and charismatic fiddler accompanied by Ian Carr on guitar and Krydda Sundström on bass. This tight ensemble evokes a breadth of Swedish folk music with inspirations also from rock, pop, and old-time American and Bluegrass traditions. The band’s “Stories from the Outside” was named Album of the Year by Lira Musikmagasin in 2020, and it won the Manifest prize and a Swedish Grammy (Grammis) in 2021. In 2023, the Lena Jonsson Trio was Folk and World Music awards Artist of the Year. Their most recent album “Elements” was released in 2023.
